How to avoid redunancy and not repeat things:

Work is good. No... work is GREAT. I'm loving my internship -- I'm doing real work, not busy work or "cheap intern labor"-work. Not only do I enjoy the work -- everyone I work with (there's about 8 employees on the messaging team; we handle all messaging related services for the 17,000 employees of Principal) is not only knowledgable and hard-working, they're also funny (within five minutes of being introduced to them we were on the subject of "Chuck Norris facts"). The work environment is neato -- I am a cube-dweller, but I have a pretty big cube and a window (I'm on the fifth floor). Principal has a sprawling campus through the heart of Des Moines -- I believe 7 buildings in total, the tallest is 42 stories. There is a lot of really cool artwork and employee-benefit type stuff (2 fitness centers, a massage therapist, a "red room" (a room that is completely pitch black except for a glowing red wall... hard to explain, but it's very relaxing), and I have a sweet ID. The pay isn't too bad either :). Apparently, they like me as much as I like them -- they want me to stay until August 18th, and extra 2 weeks from the original plan. I need the money for rent and a squirrel-farm, so I guess that's good.

The place I'm staying at isn't too shabby. It's an older place (it has a coal chute into the basement if that helps) but it is spacious. I was sleeping on the couch for the past week but now the guy who was staying in my room is gone, so I can sleep in a real bed. We're pretty close to a couple good places -- most notably, Guitar Center. I plan a making a trip there this weekend.

Other than that, life is okay. I finally leave Dekalb and now... I want to go back. No, I don't miss the town (though The House and The Junction are always in my heart), I miss the people. Most notably, a girl (yeah, go figure). Weeee. I should be going back Memorial Day weekend, so wish me luck. Thanks for the luck, now I'm off to gamble at the nearby casino, SUCKERS (oh wait, I'm not 21, and even when I am, if I want to gamble I'll just play yahtzee for pizza rolls).

Time for sleep, I have to be at work at 7:30 (yeah, boo).
