Daniel Craig Haters: Whatcha Gotta Say Now? Huh?! HUH?!?!!
Now that Casino Royale's out, our friends over at Cinematical take stock of how the Daniel Craig haters are surviving the movie's global success and nearly universal critical acclaim. Well, after spending months boycotting the film, they're still going strong -- except, now, they're searching through hundreds of Casino Royale reviews and collecting every negative quote they can find in an attempt to...do what, exactly?
Ah. Figures. The DanielCraigIsNotBond.com contingent were only pissing in the wind to begin with. Ironically, these yahoos were only adding to the publicity machine behind the movie. (And, if you've seen the movie, this is one of the rare instances in which the hype was well-deserved. The movie is so fabulous that I've watched it twice. By the way, it's real--and it's spectacular.)
Meanwhile, Daniel Craig, if only to rile up his stodgy critics even more, reportedly wants the producers to give Bond a "gay scene." Towleroad has the quote: "Why not? I think in this day and age, fans would have accepted it. I mean, look at (British TV series) Doctor Who - that has had gay scenes in it and no one blinks an eye." Which is quite true: be on the lookout this season for Captain Jack Harkness, played by John Barrowman, a companion of the Doctor who snogs both men and women. (The character has been so popular among British viewers that he now has his own spinoff series, Torchwood.)
Well, if you agree with Mark Simpson, that Bond gay scene has already happened.
