I know that they'll probably play more games. For the better players, those will be more important games: Their ability to feed themselves will depend on them." -Paul Shirley
For some reason this article reminds me of the last soccer game that I played when we lost 2-1 to Brockton in the final. I remember how we were definately the underdog because of all the amazing Portugese talent that team possessed, but we somehow kept it close and had a chance to tie it up in the final seconds if Scotty could have put a solid corner kick in, and if I could have gotten a head on it (I was the keeper, all the way up in the other box). We couldn't get anything done, and they quickly counterattacked but couldn't get a shot off before the whistle went off, and I just remember going to the ground a) exhausted, and b) dissapointed. I almost teared up right there, but then remembered that hey, nobody expected us to win, and probably nobody expected us to even be in that game because we had to beat East Bridgewater the day before. That was probably the best tournament that we had played as a team, considering the only goal we gave up in the EB game was a Engelson Own Goal in the third minute. We totally dominated that game, and then the first half of the Brockton game, but it just wasn't enough. I think that game is the one that hurt me most of any game i've ever played, because we played so well and still couldn't pull it out, and because that was probably my favorite group of guys to play with. And I wanted that game for Richy, because he deserved it more just as much as we did.
