I don't have opinions on many things, because I simply don't care about much outside of the box I live in. However, I must speak my peace about the nursing home abuse in Albert Lea Minnesota. Here you have 4 teenage girls and 2, barely, adult woman, Brianna Marie Broitzman, 19, and Ashton Michelle Larson, 18, who abused patients with dementia and alzheimers by spitting in their mouths, sticking fingers in their rectums, hitting their genitals, or twisting nipples and more. The worst that the court system can give them for these outrageous acts, if they are found guilty, is one year in jail and a $3,000 fine. Abuse of an alzhiemers or dementia patient by nursing home staff should be at least 10 years in jail. I know some would think it's a harsh sentence, however, these patients are defenseless just as an infant is and the sentence should fit the crime. These 2 pretty girls should have a chance to feel the abuse they gave by being with others who are abusive and I feel that any sentence under 10 years would be a miscarriage of justice. People need to learn that there are actual time to do for their abusive behavior, it's the only way they'll learn. Do I feel they will come out after 1 year rehabilitated? No, I feel they will come out bitter and make someone else pay for their time. Maybe someone will even die under their care. Possibly even a child. We need stiffer penalties for such abusive behavior, not a slap on the wrist, but a kick in the balls!
Nobody asked, it's just my opinion.
