Another Pirates Post
It occurs to me after some thought that Pirates of the Caribbean is essentially a Homeric Epic. Barbossa is Menelaus. Will is Hector and Paris. Jack is Odysseus. Norrington is Ajax. Elizabeth doesn't have an analogue until the very end of the At World's End when it becomes clear she is essentially Penelope. Cutler Bennette is Agamemnon. Davy Jones is Poseidon. Tiadalma is Aphrodite.
It is not a perfect match but holds up to some scrutiny.
