Well, it finally happened. It was a dark and stormy night...
October 13, 2004. 8:10 PM Building 2, second floor, first table at the beginning of the corridor, directly across from library main enterance on the second floor. I am alone coming from 12-109, Principles of Marketing class. We had our first unit test and I finished early (NO I DID NOT SKIP CLASS SHARAH!). I looked at my watch when leaving Building 12 too see if my ride would be here soon. It was 8:00 PM. While passing by the large span of windows overlooking the atrium I see Travis walking towards me from 'the corner'. I say hi and ask if the anime club office is still open. He said that he had just seen Jay a minute ago. I figured that he had just left and that there would be a slight possibility that Mike would still be there (we were watching Onegai Twins before I went to class). I quickly threw my school bag and CD binder I had with me and rushed down the stairs to the first floor of building 3 and to the club office... (Time - approximately 8:02 PM)
* Keep in mind this is a normal action for me. I have been going to MCC for over two years now. I have never had a problem with bags being left nor have I witnessed or heard first hand accounts of theft from anyone I've come in contact to. I have left laptops sitting out in the open, unattended for short periods of time. The time that I left my wallet or cell phone somewhere it has always urned up in a classroom unnoticed or wedged in one of the couches in the forum or lest carelessly (by me) on the desk in the office. I am (or was) very comfortable leaving things in certain places. *
...Of course, knowing my track record, it was closed for the day. As I proceeded back up to the library I notice some activity in the Forum. Reflecting on past observational data, it is confirmed on many instances that an active or post active event/function taking place within or in close proximity to the forum has, in a majority percentage of times observed, a direct corrolation with the presence of whole or trace eliments of food and food byproducts. I took it upon myself to investigate further, in the name of science (and mooching). I quickly discovered that this was a showing of the poorly directed Ferenheit 911. Not wishing to stay for the movie (I had a ride so I couldn't even if I wanted to) I quickly made my way to the concession table with various potatochips, pretzels and soda. I procured a bowl of pretzels and headed on my way. I then ran in to Travis again and told him of my food raiding escapade. I would have gone down with him again however I had to go get my bags from infront of the library. I get to the table and suprise... my school bag is still there. I then get ready to go to building 1 to wait for my ride. Forgeting something? Where the F*#? is my CD case?!? (Time - 8:10 PM)
At this point my first thoughts were a combination of 'where the hell did I leave it' and 'what dumbass would bring a CD case to public safety and not a school bag'. I began retracing my steps in my mind while aimlessly searching nearby garbage cans in reality. I eventually came to the conclusion that it was probably not teken out of good will. My mind began to kick in to Sherlock Holmes/X-files mode and I checked the scene. Few people are around. No evidence that the school bag was moved or searched. I asked travis if he saw anything. Nope. I run about in a figure 8 pattern for about 5 minutes presumably with the notion I was accomplishing something. A guy is standing this entire time by the ramp near the enterance to the atrium. Relatively tall brown haird kid dyed blond (obviously a while ago since his natural color was showing through). He wore a brown leather jacket with wool lining and black jeans. He was carrying his books in his hand and seemed to be waiting for something. I thought of asking him if he saw something but I figured already the answer would be no. At the same time another guy was pacing around singing some hip hop to himself (to headphones). He was shorter than the other guy, wore dark blue denim jacket and dark blue jeans. On his back he had a black sling pack (looked full). He stops to tell me my shoes are untied. I said thanks, I know. He says, "why don't you tie them man" and laughs and strolls away a bit, but back the direction he came. He then motions to the guy standing at the ramp and they slowly walk toward building 11 together.
At this time I became suspicious of them. This one guy was standing at the ramp for a good 5 minutes while this other guy paced back and forth down the hall of building 2 and hadn't acknowledged the others presence. Then without saying much, walk off together. I widen my eyes in realization of these details and began to follow them. My suspicions grew when they began glancing behind at me. They proceeded down the stairs at the end of building 2 with me about ten yards behind. I head down the stairs myself, assuming they would take that exit to the back parking lot. I get down the stairs and I can't find them. I look down both ends of the hallway. Nothing. I go back upstairs thinking they went back up using the other staircase (the one across from the Building 11 elevator. Not on the 2nd floor either. Now I was really suspicious. I looked through all the windows to see if I had missed them going outside. Nope. Then, about a minute later I see two familiar characters walking down the newly built stairs leading from the 2nd floor outdoor courtyard adjacent to the library and Student Center down to the sidewalk leading to the parking lot. They quickly looked back at the building before strolling off. Now I was convinced in my mind, and I quickly resumed following them. I followed them all the way to the outer parking lot (I don't remember the lot letter), observing them glancing back at me every so often. I began to follow closer. At this point I could hear them laughing. Once I came along side them one of them chuckled "hey man, who the hell you following?" "Myself" I replied and continued walking. They laughed. I kept walking past them trying to look as if I forgot where I parked my phantom invisomobile. I knew they were still watching me so I continued to the farthest out car in the lot. When I got to it and began fumbling for my fake keys, I looked to see what kind of car they were getting in to. A blue Ford Taurus 4 dr. They waited a minute in the parking lot. obviously they knew this wasn't my pickup truck I was hiding behind. They began to drive off towards the circle at Building 3 and after a minute began towards the exit, slowing down by the pickup to see if I was still hiding behind it. When they were about to make the turn on the MCC road, I came out from hiding to see if I could catch a glimpse of their plates. To dark. I gave them a flick off goodbye. Wheres Mike and his ninja skills when you need them!
What was in the case? a bunch of backup CDs and old game CDs. Oh, and ALL MY F*#!'n DVDs !!!
