I had another tubing adventure. This time we didn't bush-whack through waist-deep poison ivy, so that is good. My sister and I went tubing on the Saco River with me on my snow tube and her on the air mattress. All was going well until some storm clouds began to move in. We didn't think anything of it until it began thundering. Great. The thunder was still pretty far away so it didn't bother us too much. As it got closer, the clouds turned from white and fluffy to dark grey and ominous. Then it started to rain. Of course that wasn't a big deal, since we were already wet. It began to pour and we saw lightening. So we swam quickly to shore and sat under a tree until the worst part passed. Yes, we know it is actually MORE dangerous near a big tree, but come on, we are in the middle of the forest! We were doomed wherever we went! So my sister and I sat under a tree, still getting poured on, while thunder and lightening freaked the heck out of us. When the worst part passed we were able to continue our journey along the river. Note to self: Check weather forecast before tubing down a river, especially if there is no where to go in case of inclement weather. :(
