Wow, I have not updated in forever. I promise I have been reading all your posts, I've just been in this MOOD and not commenting. I''ve kind of been withdrawing socially, both on the internet and real life, and that's usually an indicator of me hitting a fairly significant down state.
D and I have been spending most of our free time the past few weeks volunteering for relief efforts for Joplin. Three nights a week, I volunteer at a hot line for legal advice for the victims. Then we went down last weekend to help with clean up efforts and honestly, guys, it at once one of the most horrific things I've ever seen and one of the most uplifting at the same time. Even seeing it in pictures doesn't do it justice, the level of destruction is so immense. Yet, there were so many people there helping and showing such heart and commitment. I can't even articulate it. It will take a very long time for that community to recover, I don't doubt that they can.
Fannishly, I haven't really been watching anything. I have Game of Thrones and The Borgias downloaded, and there's three episodes of SYTYCD, two of ABDC and two of Top Chef on the Tivo. I just have no motiviation to watch any of it right now. I did catch up on The Dresden Files and oh my heart, I just want Harry to have a little peace and happiness. Is that too much to ask? I especially want him to have his daughter and his brother safe and sound. If he could have a little romantic love without it ending in heartbreak, that would be cherry on top. I do have one quibble, did anyone else think the whole Odin thing was thrown in there out of nowhere? It just felt out of place even in the mishmash of mythologies these books put out there. Oh and I have to admit, I was surprised about McCoy being Harry's granddad! I did not see that one coming. Was there foreshadowing of that? It's been a while since I've read the earlier books, but I didn't catch anything leading that direction. I am excited for the next book, luckily I think it comes out this month or next.
I did catch a preview of this new show that is coming I guess in the fall with Zooey Deschanel and I thought it was absolutely adorable. Did anyone else see it? It seemed very original and really cute. I'm excited! Except it is on Fox. Which tends to cancel anything I like in the first season.
Sadly, that is all I have to say. My plans for this weekend include yard work and trying out a couple of new tofu recipes. I know, my life is so exciting.
