Billy rolled over in bed and looked at the clock. It was 4 o' clock in the morning and for some reason he heard music. 80's music none-the-less. He sighed and got out of bed figuring that he should investigate the noise. Donning a robe that Barney had given him, he left his hideaway room.
Barney sat watching "Let's go to the Mall" with a more than half empty bottle of scotch in front of him. When he saw Billy walk into the room, he wiped his eyes quickly.
"Are you ok? Uh, were you crying?" Billy asked quietly.
"No. I was wiping at some of the awesome that collected in my eye," Barney mostly slurred out.
Billy took a seat next to Barney on the couch, "Dude..you are way drunk."
"I am Not!" Barney protested loudly. "I'm just sleepy from the sleeping pills I took."
"You took sleeping pills...Are you trying to kill yourself??" Billy asked. Barney ignored this as his head rolled back onto the couch.
Billy contemplated calling an ambulance, sleeping pills and alcohol really don't mesh well, especially that much alcohol. He tried to wake Barney up, first yelling his name, then slapping him lightly on the cheek, he slapped him harder when that had no effect.
"She wants to go to the mall, I can't take her to the mall," Barney said, sitting up straight and extending a hand toward the younger Robin on the screen. "The robot is better for her, he comforts her, and takes her to the mall. Space mall. She needs robots not...I'm not that...I'm no good."
Billy just stared at Barney as he continued to ramble on about stuff that he assumed made no sense to anyone. At least his friend was awake and talking, even if it was about "robots finding love."
"I have to...I'm going to tell you something," Barney said, not really focusing on Billy as he moved forward slightly. "I think..with Robin...I lo-" Before Barney was able to say the rest of his confession, he passed out. His head landing in Billy's lap.
"Well...this is rather awkward," Billy sighed.
Billy got up, slowly placing Barney's head on a couch pillow, and he shut off the TV. He was about to get Barney a blanket when he felt a hand on his wrist.
"Don't leave." A mostly unconscious Barney mumbled. Billy had no idea if Barney knew who he was or what was going on, but his heart went out for the poor guy. He was surprised the therapist didn't bring up the separation issues Barney clearly had. Billy could see them and he only had a PhD in Horribleness. Honestly, doctors these days.
In either case, as Barney requested, Billy didn't leave. He grabbed another pillow from the couch and slept on the floor. He may be an evil villain, but even he wouldn't leave a Bro in need.
