--aren't my glasses...

[Good morning, Demeleier. Or rather, one hopes it's a better morning than the one Barnaby's having. To begin with, he can't find his glasses (and his eyesight is painfully terrible without them) and in trying to determine where they are, Bunny turned on his communicator by accident. So without his knowledge it's propped up ( Read more... )

[Well, you've caught the Oni's attention, in any case. He doesn't see the need to say anything, perhaps, but he is going to stare with a hint of curiosity. And maybe some amusement.]

[Now dressed, he has the expression of someone thoroughly embarrassed but still trying to preserve his pride.]

Hello.

I imagine this doesn't make for a very good first impression, does it?

[He can understand issues of pride. Still, he can't help but point out...well, the obvious.]

Clumsy.

[Huff.]

This was a one-time occurrence of clumsiness. Only because I couldn't see.

[All of the intrigue, now.]

You are blind?

[Practically.]

'Blind' is a bit of an overstatement, but my sight does leave something to be desired, yes.

... [Something occurs to him suddenly, a snatched word he recalls from the other's accidental transmission. The Oni slowly tilts his head as he puzzles through the meaning.]

Glass. It aids in sight? [Truly a worthy property. Not only did it catch liquid, but aided the blind, as well!]

It can, yes... [Barnaby himself looks a little curious. Had this unusual man not heard of glasses before...? Perhaps he should explain a little more.]

Well, not plain, ordinary glass. The lenses are prescribed specifically for their wearer. My own glasses, for example, probably couldn't aid someone else's sight.

[So each fragment could be specifically crafted for an individual user. He makes a low, thoughtful sound, and may even be impressed.]

How?

[...Good question, Barnaby thinks.]

There are people who specialize in making eyewear. I'm not one of them, so I don't know.

Hm. [A question for Saki, then. He takes note of that.]

You found them? Here?

[He shakes his head.]

No, mine are from my home. I was fortunate enough to have arrived wearing them.

Magics in your world. [But not all of them. Still, it's good to know that they exist.]

[With this, Barnaby looks a bit surprised.]

Well, no, nothing about it really involves magic. As far as I'm aware.

[Demeleier is the sort of place that makes you start doubting things like that.]

[He can detect that uncertainty, and that seems to be confirmation enough for him.]

Not that you know. Likely, then. [Mortals are amazingly unperceptive of those sorts of things.]

I've never seen any evidence of magic, mind you.

[Oh, Barnaby. Is skepticism really warranted here, all things considered?]
