[Barnaby's chosen to use audio as opposed to video today, mainly so that no-one will see how worn-down he looks. He hasn't been able to get quite as much sleep as he needs for a very particular reason: Kotetsu Kaburagi's gone, and he's been out searching for him.

[He hadn't spoken to him much, but he knew who Kotetsu was. This comes as a surprise, and, frowning, he replies - like Barnaby, the calm is layered over something more urgent.]

I'll let all Watch members know, and I'll try and find him, too. He's not the type to wander off, is he?

He would at least say something. Though he can be reckless, he's not entirely stupid.

He likely had the crown with him.

In that case, it's less likely that the fae would have been able to lure him away. I don't want to rule it out - it can happen regardless, especially if he's not the type to just go like that.

How do they go about luring people?

The specifics differ, but it's usually down to the glamour - the magic they can use. Some can change form to distract you, there's the lights in the forest that can guide people in... Others have a very strong sort of... pull. One that's difficult to ignore.

[Magic. The idea still seems insane to him, but it's getting harder and harder to ignore that it exists.]

Like a sort of mind control?

And in the event they do successfully captivate someone with their glamour, where do they take them to?

That - depends.

Sometimes, people who've returned to us don't remember where they've been. Either that, or they've just been wandering, lost, and disorientated. There's been at least one case of someone being taken to their world itself, and in another, someone was... killed. In the forest.

[There is now a distinct feeling of dread in the pit of Barnaby's stomach. While Kotetsu was a competent hero (he'd been one for over ten years, he certainly knew how to survive dangerous situations) faeries and magic were uncharted territories.

He forces himself to sound calm.]

I've been intending to search the forest, now that you bring it up. What will I need in order to do so safely?

The fae in question only targeted children. [Which isn't good, by any means, but it might allay some of Barnaby's dread a little.] If he's there to be found, we'll find him.

If you plan on searching the forest, it's imperative that you don't go alone. Their flamour is very strong in there, and even the forest itself can be... confusing.

If you can, try asking Myhrta to accompany you. She'll be the best person I know of to lead someone in there.

[He's both angry and relieved at that. If it's one less thing to target Kotetsu, then good. But even so, what kind of monstrous creature would target children?]

Kotetsu himself mentioned I shouldn't go alone into the forest.
