I can breathe now
Our country has righted itself. We've remembered who we are. Hope is alive and the promises I was made as a child are fulfilled. America really IS the land where anyone can earn the highest office in the land.
I think of Barack Obama''s grandmother, who passed just yesterday. So many commentators keep saying "She died too soon to see her grandson''s triumph." But they're wrong. She suffered for a long time, and wasn't able to travel. Had she lived a few days longer, she would have heard the news through a painkiller-induced fog. Only by dying was she able to fully be with Barack Obama today.
God bless America for making the choice to hope.
