trauma

last night around 10:15 we heard yet another crash at the intersection next to our house. this one was strange as there was no squealing of brakes and the sound was not the usual crunching noise of metal colliding. as b was fully dressed, he went out immediately with the cell phone. a car had pulled out in front of another, which was moving very fast and did not have time to brake at all. they called 911, but the person that was sideswiped was at the very least unconscious in their car and after cpr and the paddles, was pronounced dead at the scene. the people in the oncoming car were ok (at least physically).

we are both still trying to process this. its hard when its just a moment in your usual life, and then something so traumatic happens - just like that - and you don't know the people and you are trying to understand what just happened and how.

its actually more strange today, as there are no signs of the accident and people are driving by really fast (as usual) with no clue that someone died here 16 hours ago.
