Winter/Summer

Aug 26, 2010 17:40

This Winter started pretty dismally. Really below average snowfalls, and a quite literal "Dry July" was had by most resorts.

August on the other hand has become a record breaking month by hitting nearly decade high snowfalls! I can't believe it. If only I could have known that earlier I would have organised myself to get down there on a weekend, but with only a few weeks left of the season (and little money in my pocket), that's not going to happen.

This will be the first season since 2003 that I've missed. Ouch, and I thought last year's 5-days-only-on-the-snow was bad.

It's extremely painful watching huge snow reports and powder pics litter my facebook and twitter daily - as part of my self-diagnosed job to be "with-it" for my zwilling job - along with listening to friend's bragging about how bloody good it is. *dies*

Anyway, to cheer me up, I've been focusing on Summer. Pete and I are going away for 2 weeks to New Zealand just after Xmas and over New Years to see family and to pretty much just travel top to bottom of the country in a single hit. I can't wait, it's going to be the best roadtrip ever! We intend to book our flights this weekend while he's down :)

Within 2 weeks upon returning from NZ, I've promised Mum that we go to the Australian Open this next year. Today, I booked our flights and hotel!! I'm soooo excited. I can't wait. We were both pretty gutted that we didn't go this year - because I was 50% unemployed. Now, I can hopefully just squeeze 4 days and 3 nights out. I scammed a good deal with Expedia, my fave online booking site, and we're locked in. yay!

I look forward to the Australian Open just about as much as onlylisa, I think (just in rival camps, hehe) - so, maybe hopefully we can even cross paths while i'm down.... you never know!
