Big Day Out

You know you're old when:

You take your own toilet paper in a zip lock bag to a music festival.

Apparently my world is disappearing! Gone are the days of stinky filthy porta-loos by the masses. Now it's portable bathrooms! How civilised, eh. Running water and sinks and mirrors? Times have changed!

Had a pretty good day. I didn't buy the ticket with my own intentions of going, I bought it from Beck who had a spare and I figured I should get out and do something interesting. Overall there weren't really any bands I was crazy insane about, but highlights were definitely Muse who I now have an even bigger impression of. They definitely lived up to their hype. Loved their set.

Also now I am a huuuuuuuuuuge fan of the Silent Disco. This is the best thing ever!

Two DJs playing in a tent where you wear headphones and listen to one of two channels playing - either of the two DJs pumping out different music. Everyone in dancing away to the beat of their own tune, and when you walk past the tent it's so quiet.. just the noise of hundreds of people singing along to music that doesn't exist to outsiders and cheers to beats of a sick tune that starts only audible to those with headphones. I love it and I want to go another again soon! It's so funny singing at the top of your lungs along with a handful of other people knowing that everyone one else outside don't get it. Looooved it.

Crazy hot weather started the day, where there wasn't enough shade or water. ONE free water refill station for 60,000 people? We eventually gave up after the 2nd refill cuz by the time you were out of the cue you pretty much had to refill again, it was just so hot. Also, Raspberry and Pineapple Calippos are AMAZING and are my new fave ice block. om nom.

By mid afternoon a cool change came through... bringing rain... so we raindanced out in the field to fight off the chills. It was pretty cold up in the stadium seating cuz of the sudden change and sitting in the wet. Staying down in the crowd with body heat coming out of the pit was definitely the best way to stay warm - and dancing. Lots of dancing.

I'm very sore today!

Overall a good day. Nice to be back, but I also could have done without going unless there were some bands I was more into.
