Temporarily Out of Action

Superstore, which I normally adore, left me feeling not pleased the other day with the episode with the temp workers. I am sitting in with operations these days and we heavily use temp workers, and, believe you me, I get the unreliability of some of them. I get that we can ask for 10 new workers every day and have maybe 3 at the end of the week who consistently show up on time and are able to fold a piece of cardboard. But those three? Are good, strong, dependable workers, and it hurt me to see them made fun of on Superstore.

I guess I was disappointed when it turns out that "temp workers are people too" was replaced with "Jonah kicks his gambling habit; temps are still drug addicts. Yay!" I just think for a show that seems to be on the side of social minded-ness, there were other less harmful narratives to pursue.
