So I watched 4.05 last night and my nose stuffed up like you wouldn't believe (or maybe you would since you're reading this and presumably have watched), and I thought, this better go away, or I'll get swine flu, and not realize it for a week because I'll think I feel like crap because of Matt Saracen, and then it was sort of OK when I woke up, but I followed with a 4.06 Matt and Julie break-up and now my nose is stuffed up again.
I hate you Friday Night Lights and what is your clear behind the scenes nefarious investment into the Kimberly Clark products of the world.
I've rambled on about Bob Dylan's Don't Think Twice, It's All Right, before, right? And my collection of covers which is up to 34. Heck, I've even vidded it for cractastic definitions of vid. So I am pleased that FNL could use it on the show. It makes me happy even if I don't think of it as a summation of the Matt/Julie relationship. Lyla and Tim? Maybe, sure. But I don't think that Matt and Julie would be all, "but you just wasted my precious time." And he stayed for his Grandma too. What about the speech, "You're the one person who never left me." But I guess that him Mom is safely there watching over Grandma.
And I guess you did waste half a year in Dillon delivering pizzas. It was precious time. But...I just don't feel the sarcastic venom that the song is laced with.
But I worry about Grandma. What happens whe Mom gets over the "I abandoned my family" guilt and goes back to whence she came? Eh, what happens will happen, and she seems like she's entrenched now. I guess that whole thing with buying a new TV was supposed to reassure me that she's there for the long term. And Matt, you got my favorite good bye song. So I'm not going to quibble.

Vince and his mom issues. I remember how upset he was when Coach came by and gave her $20, Vince was so offended. And it's not just that Coach was infringing on the man of the house responsibilities, but that Vince is also embarrassed about it all. That look around to the neighbors when he carried his mom inside. And his mom telling him that she was going to get cleaned up for the game and not embarrass him.
And, man, they know how to frame a shot sometimes to tell the story. Walking down the street with his mom's arm on his back and the cigarette hanging loosely from her hand. "I love you as long as my addictions don't get in the way, baby."
