Time has a photo-essay up about murals in Philadelphia, and I have to say, it's gorgeous. I've seen some of these before, but I didn't realize the whole extent of the program.

Wow, those are incredible. Perhaps they're the 21st century equivalent of an ancient wall painting? Well....not exactly, but I'm very pre-coffee this morning.

Aren't they gorgeous? I've come across a few of them, and I'm always, "woah, neat!" but these are so much more extensive than I thought!

Those are amazing! We have a couple of murals painted on buildings in Richmond, but nothing like this.

I was googling to see if I could find out more about them, and I did see controversy on one of them that the neighborhood thought was not in as nice shape as the others, but that was a recent mural set to be unveiled this summer. So I'm assuming they just used poor quality materials for that. The ones I've seen in center city have been there for a while and still look great.

That sounds very cool to have watched that come together. I clearly need to get my ankle better so I can do the Broad Street run again to mural watch. *g*
