I just got a friend of mine interested in Spooks. She did Season 1 this past weekend. She said, "I probably shouldn't get too attached to [the people at the end of the S1 cliff-hanger]" and I laughed and laughed and laughed.
PSA: There are 3 Season 5 episodes up for the grabbing at the moment. I don't really understand broadcasting schedules it would seem. *g*
Oh, Colin. I'm glad I didn't get too attached to you. (Lies, lies, lies.) And it's not like you and Malcolm were Colin and Malcolm a wonderful balance of geekiness and knowledge who brought joy into my life.
The second episode though was the one that had me on the edge of my seat. The race to the locker was pure adrenaline. Then there was the crowd control gone wild, Jo and the PM's son in danger and Harry's rescue, and I couldn't breathe through any of it.
I love the direction at the end of it with Harry's shoes making squooshy little puddles as he walks away contrasting with the feet on the chair of the guy about to hang himself. They went through that whole thing without showing the faces and it was incredible. It also sanitizes the hanging a bit for the viewer, but by that point, I think a little sanitizing went a long way in entertainment.
Harry though? There's nothing you need to see on his face that you couldn't see from the shoes and the long shot of him walking away.
Adam better have a break down soon if they keep opening up each episode with his recovery.
I thought Ros's or Jo's days were numbered in that last episode. The girlfriend would have been a perfect replacement. It's funny, I see a strong replacement character, and I immediately think that the main cast's lives are in danger. So as soon as ex-girlfriend showed a little spunk, it immediately upped Jo's danger in the hotel room.
Harry and Ruth! OTP! I couldn't even get mad at Ruth for leaving him at the end because I'm sure those two crazy kids will work it out eventually. But her reasons for leaving were so Ruth and so part of what makes her special.
