The Little English Guy Is Doing Laps

This is an interesting story about how I'm totally insane.

Recently, I discovered that The Monkees were secretly in one of my favorite episodes of Boy Meets World:

It's like someone was putting little easter eggs in my childhood.

So that got me thinking about what Ben Savage has been up to lately (I know Fred does a lot of stuff and likes to work with his brother), and I figured out that he played himself in an episode of "Phil of the Future" (Season 2, Episode 8 "Time Release Capsule" if anyone is wondering). In my opinion, Boy Meets World is probably THE sitcom of my generation. Everyone loves it, grew up with it, and knows the characters like the back of their hand. It almost literally raised me. It's hard to think of another show that's an automatic classic like this one is. Phil of the Future, on the other hand, is another of my favorite sitcoms, but is essentially one of those guilty pleasure shows. It's a Disney kid's sci-fi comedy show that's better than it needs to be and falls into the category of "I'll Totally Watch This If It's On Because Ricky Ullman Is Hot". And of course, I did all I could to find the Ben Savage episode, but did not. From there, I decided I was going to check up on what Ricky (or Raviv. Dude is SO Jewish, it's insane) was doing and found that he was in an episode of The Middleman. I was always kind of curious about this ABC Family show, so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone. Here is what I found out:

1) This show is what my writing would be like if my brain/friends didn't tell me how stupid my ideas are sometimes.
2) The show, while sometimes amusing, is trying WAY too hard to be quirky.
3) A lot of the blame can probably be put on the main lead actress. She's hot as hell, but doesn't quite pick up on the comedic timing.
4) HOLY SHIT RICKY ULLMAN IS AMAZINGLY HOT WITH LONG HAIR:

Like, seriously? Never cut it. EVER. The 90's boy band cut was charming and worked well enough, but this is just delicious.

P.S. I'm taking a German film class and there are a bunch of people I'm friends with taking it with me. There are six of us and our collective identities include: German history nerds, culture whores/film enthusiasts, Jewish or about-to-be Jewish people, snarky commenters. There is quite a bit of overlap and we all sat in a little group at the back of the class. We watched a movie tonight that dealt with a refugee WWII Jewish family. I'm pretty sure everyone else in the class hated us.

P.S.S. REG! REGINALD FAIRFIELD!
Still creeps into my mind now and then, even today.

ETA: Oh great. Episode 11 of Middleman is apparently infested with OSDW references, so now I have to watch it.

ETA 2: I've decided. I'm not crazy about this show as a college student, but I'm forcing my kids to watch it.

squee, video, teh crazeh, belwah, hey hey, homework, spam, osdw, friends
