Versa

For those of you not on Facebook, I no longer own a Volkswagen Passat wagon.  Nope, as of last Sunday at around 3:30 pm, I was made the owner of a new silver Nissan Versa hatchback.  It's quite nice, even if the price was much more than I thought it would be/was planning to pay.  Going to have to get used to a $357/month payment as opposed to just $262 per month.  Oh well, it's mine, it works very well, and for a sub-compact, it's roomy as hell.  Also sits me up a lot higher than I was expecting.  I almost feel like I'm in a van, but it actually drives well.

I was rather proud of myself for being a very good negotiator when it came to the financing.  I gave them the silent frown treatment.  I could even tell I was making the guy squirm!!  Heehee!  Got the monthly payments down by almost $40, which is awesome.  Nothing real special for warranties like they tried pushing.  Sorry, but I don't worry about rock-salt corrosion in Yakima, buddy, just gimmie the damn car already.  My one complaint about it, aside from the knees needing to adjust to a higher seat: the overdrive function.  It automatically comes on when you turn on the car.  This gives it more umph on the highway when you need it, but it can also bring down the gas mileage if you use it in the city, not to mention it cuts down on the brake response slightly.  Oh well, just another new thing to adjust to in the morning.

The goal is to have the bulk of the moving process done by Saturday, Sunday at the latest.  I still need to clean up my old place, but that can wait a bit if need be.  Got the truck reserved for the big stuff and hopefully Jay and a couple of others can help out Saturday morning.  How I'm going to get Andrea my couch is another matter.  I'll figure something out sooner or later.

So many changes going on in one month.  Kinda hard to imagine I basically planned it this way.  Now back to filling out my first of two questionnaires for the City of Davenport, Iowa.  News on that as it develops :-)
