My computer's clock just ticked over to midnight. I'm at my hotel room in Tokyo, drinking Kaluha and debating whether I have time to watch the Muppet Christmas Carol on my netbook before I go to sleep.
When I was sitting in a cafe tonight, drinking some tea and listening to "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" playing over the speakers, I was wishing my family or friends could be here. Then I realised what I had with me. I was wearing hand warmers that
moustachios made for me. The book I was reading was lent to me by one of my Japan friends. I had a very special gift in my bag from
sabella_a. My mom was emailing me on my cell phone.
That doesn't really make it less lonely, but it made me feel better to remember how lucky I am to have you all. Even when you're far away.
I've been
posting Tokyo pictures to my Twitter account, including a few of the aforementioned gift
sabella_a made for me. There's never any lack of Christmas lights or bizarre engrishy signs just waiting to be photographed.
