I got random email from a lady I met at a school last year, telling me about a little flea market/concert at one of the community centers. For all the frustrations of living here, there's also times when you'll never feel catered to more than when you're a gaijin living in Japan. I was late getting to the center, and I missed the concert. So the lady who invited me took me down to where the band was packing up, and asked them to play some of their songs again for me. And they did. One guy commented that I was "back stage". I had my tin whistles in my bag, which they were interested in trying out. I also had lunch with them afterwards when everyone but the staff (and their various cute, hyperactive kids) had cleared out, and got to talk to two ladies from the band who were quite fluent in English. And another lady who didn't know a word of English, but had heard from her daughter that I watched Supernatural, and started talking to me in Japanese about how much she liked it. (I asked her whether she liked Sam or Dean better, and she said she liked their dad best. LOL.)
After a week of sadness and stress, I needed something nice to remind me why I recontracted. That'll do.
Because Neverwinter Nights 2 has decided to do nothing but crash on me, I started playing System Shock 2 again instead. I don't think I ever finished it the first time around (got stuck looking for the last two of those damn Annelid eggs, and never found them). Which I regret, because it really is an awesome game and still holds up really well even though it's ten years old. The graphics are a bit dated, even with the fan-made graphical upgrades I installed, but it's still as intense and creepy as I remember. The midwives give me CHILLS.
Watchmen comes out here on the 28th of March. DAMN, that's fast. It took like, six months for Iron Man to finally get released. Three weeks is definitely a delay I can live with.
