I managed to see three of my students today, and I was only out for an hour or so. One of them ran into me at the 100-yen store when I was buying some packing materials to send a gift to my dad. Then I walked down to Lawsons after I got home, and ran into another one walking her dog ("Milk", hee). Another one waved to my from her car as I was walking down the street, and I saw her again two minutes later when I got to the convenience store. She's one of the students that kind of reminds me of myself at that age. She's a bit on the quiet side, and she's almost always reading a book when I see her in the halls or in between classes. I saw one in her hand when she was in the car, too. I always wish I could talk to the kids more easily, but when I talked to her at the convenience store, I at least understood when she told me it was her birthday. Neat.
I just had one of those occasional "HOLY CRAP THE INTERNET IS AMAZING" moments. I can call to people back home for free, read everything I ever wanted to know about weird-ass cartoons shows from the 80s that I barely remember, type "how to fix a broken zipper" into a search engine and save myself a trip to the tailor, or just make it possible for people to know what random songs I'm listening to at the moment.
