Rounds Complete
So here we are, Sunday morning and I don't have to work until 3pm.
I decided to start taking Tuesdays & Wednesdays off...or rather the restaurant decided. There are only a few days out of the week where I can get away not being at the shop (other days there's some giant food order to put in, or some cook needs the day off, or some special event needs to happen)...so Tuesday and Wednesday it is. I was hoping for Sundays totally off, but alas...inventory strikes, and I refuse to get up at 0-dark-30 to count shit Monday morning.
This weekend was a pretty good showing all told. We're starting to get busier again, and the Music Circus is helping business some. It's cool to be able to run my own food, every day, without having someone else to weigh in...though the constant juggling of factoids and the remembering inane details part of being the chef is fucking exhausting. I'm also running a lot harder than I normally do, because if something gets royally screwed up...it's on me.
Last night was pretty cool as I ended up making a few table visits, where people told me how exceptional the specials were (read: my food) The boy's family came in last night to visit, which was an awesome break from the crazy, and even Michelle (one of the former GM's and one of my all time favorite people) stopped by the say hello and congrats.
Here's to hopin' there's more weekends like this one in my future.
