I read two of my father's novels this week.
They're terrible. Monodimensional characters, clumsy plots, flat and arid spaces, unweildy dialogue, holes in the story arc and timeline, nonexistent editing, etc. He made the environment of Knoxville in the Spring sound tedious and unexciting, an achievement seldom matched by instruction manuals and cooking recipes.
There are spelling errors, for fuck's sake. Spelling errors! Typos!
This disappoints me on a very primal level.
