I'm still picking at threads on the canon update post, and in the process of making a new set of icons (my third Kurt set! geez), but what the hell.

So Ronan is actually really hilariously protective of Kurt, in ways that he isn't really aware of until people point it out to him. The thing is, Ronan thinks that Kurt is actually really incredibly brave, even when Ronan is calling him a melodramatic drama queen. That's just how Ronan rolls; if he's not being a sarcastic commentator in the background he's probably doing it wrong. So the fact that Kurt is a deeply vulnerable guy and yet still keeps trying is something that Ronan finds very admirable and pretty awesome.
(Hilariously, Ronan doesn't get the whole pedestal thing that Kurt has for him because Ronan actually has pretty terrible self esteem. He just hides it really well.)
In any case, Ronan was actually genuinely pissed off on Kurt's behalf when Blaine asked him if Kurt had been wandering or whatever - he had a dummy spit at Jaime about how Blaine just isn't good enough for Kurt and jfc who even asks that I WISH I COULD PUNCH HIM. He'd be pretty awkward if someone raised it to him, because Ronan is bad with talking about feelings (to the point that he actively intimidates anyone who tries when it's something that he desperately doesn't want to talk about), but there's a kind of wary "I will watch this guy and if he makes Kurt upset there will be words". Basically he is the most protective friend Kurt never wanted :')
Also the one who keeps teasing Kurt about whether he'll sing for him or not. One day he will and it will either not be worth the hype or it will be Ronan doing something truly terrifying like synchronising his soul with the sea or whistling up a storm. IT WILL NOT BE ANYTHING IN BETWEEN.
I GUESS AT THE END OF THIS RONAN WILL JUST SHANK ANYONE WHO UPSETS KURT. THE END. WORST FRIEND EVER.
So what does Kurt think Ronan does outside of camp?

You know, that's a good question! He assumes Ronan goes to school. He hasn't talked about any kind of wizarding school, so it's probably a normal school. In his spare time, like after school or vacations, he does magic. Sometimes it involves animals, like whales. Other times it involves God, which clashes with Kurt's worldview. (Note to self: Kurt needs to ask Ronan about that a little more.) He figures Ronan is less stressed out at home, and thus less likely to be building weapons in his basement.
He also can't imagine Ronan without Jaime, so Ronan probably smuggles Jaime in his suitcase somehow.
What's Ronan's going to make Kurt do in exchange for participating in the musical?

Has Kurt speculated on what "type" Ronan has for a romantic partner?

Nnnnot really. He hasn't really cared to know what Ronan looks for in a girl because Kurt's not a girl and he's learned his lesson that trying to seem like enough of one that straight guys will consider dating him is a terrible, terrible mistake. Besides, the one girlfriend of Ronan's who Kurt knew about was Molly? I believe? who was just the opposite of Kurt in every way.
It was more that Kurt tried to be someone Ronan could see himself with. A good person doing good things for people, someone who was a respite for Ronan rather than another person to help. He sort of kept failing at that, lol, but what can you do! He'll probably be more interested in Ronan's love life now, as in hoping he has one and the girl is fun and generally awesome.
HOW AWKWARD WOULD IT BE IF KURT AND BLAINE MADE OUT IN KURT'S ROOM?
