It's been awhile...

Hi. Remember me?

I know, it's been awhile, but...well, honestly, I haven't been busy. I just haven't been on my laptop in awhile.

Now, I know that may shock those who have known me awhile and know that my laptop is usually glued to my hip and I'm always on it. But there have been days where I haven't even turned the thing on to check my mail. Shocker, right?
Here's the best part.

It's not because I'm super busy. It's not because of my job. It's not because of the house. It's not because of my wifey duties, or because I'm baking Christmas cookies for the first time (two different kinds and candy). I'm busy doing something else.

I'm making this cross stitch:

I bought it at the Magic Kingdom while we we on our honeymoon. I saw it, saw the price, and said, no way. But then I kept thinking about it, and I thought maybe I could learn how to cross stitch and then make it. I actually thought it would be soemthing I could do during the winter when I didn't want to go out and it would actually be something productive. So, on our last day, I went and bought it.

I brought it back and showed my mom, and she thought it was neat. It's also BIG, 15x15. She was going to show me how, we opened it up, and then she laughed. Most cross stitches have a pattern on the cloth so it is easier to follow. Well, this one is a counting cross stitch, which pretty much means I have to count out all the tiny squares and figure out what goes where just based on counting. Even Matt's Aunt Barb said it would be tough.

So, the day after Thanksgiving, I decided to give it a go. I figured out where I needed to start, and went from there. I've worked on it during the time that I would normally be on my laptop, and there have been days where I have wanted to just sit at home and work on it than even go to work.

I'm not even a quarter of the way done with it yet. If you look at the picture, I started on the top left side. I have the one bell done, and then down to the fourth flower on the left. I will finish the fifth flower probaby today and then start on Minnie's face. It's split up in four parts, so I'm about halfway done with the first part.

I've only screwed up twice so far, and I've noticed it before it caused major problems. But it's been fun. Everyone that has come by is actually shocked that I know how to do it. My mom didn't even really show me either. She's done a few in her days, and she told me how to do it, but nothing was out and I didn't see anything so, I really didn't learn how. I just read and followed the directions that came with it, and then went on youtube to see if anyone had a how to that showed how to do it. So, between all that, I kinda just figured it out on my own. It's not that hard. If you can count (I can't do Math, but I can count), and know how to sew it's not that hard. Actually, you don't even know how to sew. You just have to make x's.

So, that's pretty much what has been keeping me busy. I'm trying to work on it a little every day, and I get excited when I starts looking like the picture. My goal is to finish it by our anniversary.

This week is going to be tough trying to find time to work on it, I have to frost cookies, make my second kind of cookie, and make my Christmas mints too. So, hopefully between all that and family stuff and cleaning, I can find time to work on my cross stitch.

I hope everyone has a safe and Merry Christmas!
