Combined--Weekend & B-day Update!

Jun 15, 2005 20:40

Although, I realize I should not be combining the two events - my b-day and my weekend from hell, because they are soooo opposite of each other, my lack of time is causing me to combine them. Technically I should be working on my presentation for work, but since I am trying to eat dinner I figure I will try to post while I am doing that and then just focus on my work the rest of the night.

Okay first lets start at the begginning!!

I was initally bummed because Emily was not able to go with us, due to work, but then I was semi-excited/worried because my mom on her own free will despite how crappy she has been feeling latley decided that since we had an extra ticket to see Wicked on Sunday that she would come with us---YES I thought a step finally in the right direction as far as her mind set goes anyway, well turns out not so much, just wait...

So we got there on Saturday and since a little birdy told us that Jenna Leigh Green was going on as Elphaba for the Saturday Matinee, since no tix were available to purchase, we obviously decided to rush for that show and ditch our Sunday tix that we already purchased. Well here comes the only good news for this trip--I WON the Lotto!! Which was shocking considering how many people were there, I like to think it was due to incessant praying/hyper-ventalating that got my name called, since luck is not on my side latley! We were still sorta screwed because there were 4 of us and only 2 rush tickets that we won, so we hurried up and tried to see if anyone had any extras, but some rude ass lady who knew I was interested sold there two to some snotty kids parents who didn't even want to go, litterally I think they took them just cuz I wanted them so bad, but whateva, we ended up finding a different guy who had some extra tickets and we bought to balc seats from him, which were better than our Sunday tix, so it all worked out GREAT!!!!!!!!!

I have to admit I have only seen Jenna sing at Bare and the Joe's Pub concerts so I was not sure what to expect from her as Elphaba, but she completely rocked in my book! The belting parts especially gave me goosebumps! I am glad she was the first Elphaba for me since Idina, because I do not know how forgiving I would have been to someone else! *cough*Anna*Gayster*cough*

Here's my pic with Jenna....who by the way was the sweetest thing evah at the stagedoor, my love for her is infinite! She could not believe that we would drive all that way for her and switch tix and everything! So humble!

So next comes the traumatic part of the weekend...

We decided to do some sightseeing before going to dinner and then back to the hotel. After a while of walking we decided it would be best to hop in a cab to get back to the car...BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!!

My mom got in the back seat last and the cab diriver started driving away before she was able to get all the way in, which caused her to fall on her bad knee, I am not kidding you it was like a scene from a movie where everyone was gathering around my mom sprawled out in the middle of Michigan Ave, a pedestrian called 911 and my mom and I were wisked off to the hospital in an ambulance and that is where we stayed for the remainder of the night. Turns out she broke her knee cap in three different places, and may need surgery to fix it--NICE finally she gets out of the house and this has to happen someone please shoot me! What makes it worse it my friend Jessica went with us and she had never been to Chicago, and was such a trouper through the whole thing basically had to put up with my mom's bad attitude for the whole 6 hour ride home car ride! To make matters worse the hotel we were at would not let us have the wheel chair so all night I would have to wheel my mother who can't hop on crutches to the bathroom on an office chair that was in the room!! It was a nightmere, oh yeah and lets not forget the guilt trip that my mom put me on about how I always tell her to be postitive and look where it got her---oh yeah FUN TIMES!!

So anyway, I ended up at the emergency room with her when we got home since she insisted that there was no way she could get in the house with all of our steps, we waited there until 3:30 a.m., I had to be at work at 7:15 a.m., just to find out that they were not admitting her, and that she just needed to go to her orthopedic dr in the morining! And to add insult to injury when we got back to her house she made it up the stairs with no problem---what do ya know, so I was up until 5 a.m. and had to take a half a day at work basically for no reason, since her good friend was with her at the hospital anyway, I did not need to be there!

Well, all I can say is since then she is still having her pitty party and I am still one of her guest, and all we can do now is wait this out I guess, oh yeah and lay off the city trips until she gets an elelctric wheel chair or something!!!

Before the trauma, when she could actually still walk, awwwe don't we look like we are having such a great time, well actually we were, this was about 20 minutes before it happened, damn if I could just turn back time...

Fun Stuff - MY BIRTHDAY!!!
All I can say is I have the best friends in the whole world, without them I seriously would probably be on the edge of some bridge by now. Michelle you especially always know exactly what I need to hear when I need to hear it, and for that I can not thank you enough. You went out of your way to make my birthday special despite all the mother grief I have been having right now and really I needed that more than anything! You truly are the reason that I am able to hold my head up during these hard times, because I know that as soon as I let it fall just a little you are there to push me along when I feel that I can't do it anymore and really I have told ya before but I don't know what people do without a friend like you!!!!!!!!

Okay, now that the gushy stuff is over--- The Gifts...

Yay for presents...

Michelle got me a totally cool/unique broadway charm braclet which I love and is now one of my most prised possessions, I actually have a Bare and Michael Charm, I am sure not too many people can say that!
