Unlearn Bad English Campaign needed?

My reading at a bookstore was abruptly interrupted with a kid's cry "that is my one!".
At that moment, I felt a shudder down my spine literally.
Some 20 years have passed, but the problem remains - Singlish, among children.

Among the many thoughts racing through my mind - Where did she pick it up from? Was it from television, her family, or her school?

What progress have we made from 20 years ago, when i recall such Singlish phrases were commonplace at my kindergarten.
It was when teachers taught "pepper" and 'paper" sounded the same,
and i had no idea how to make the "th" sound till much after I graduated from university.
(Unfortunately I believe this same problem still plagues many Singaporeans, and worse, they are unaware of it.)

Out of curiosity, what success indicators are we using in the Speak Good English Movement?
What do we need to do to escape carrying the curse of bad English?
