Thought I'd share with you a little piece of my heart.
I'm part of this ridiculously amazing, glorious, sonically spectacular, QUEER Brooklyn-based marching band - the Rude Mechanical Orchestra. When Dan Savage started his It Gets Better campaign, we sat down and talked about it, critiqued it, and ultimately decided that we could contribute to the project in a more radical way. We were concerned that 'It Gets Better' is too simplistic a message - that quite frankly, it doesn't always get better for queer folks, for a myriad of reasons. We wanted to share that for us, it got better because we made it better, for ourselves.
