So spring break is less than a month away, and this year I (along with some amigos) have decided to call off a big trip. Last year's Florida trip was a blast, but I don't know if I'm up for something like that again, + it was expensive. Frankly, I'm exhausted, and driving somewhere for >10 just doesn't sound like fun - no matter the destination.
But traveling is a must, even if it's within the same state. I feel like I should take advantage of all the great places nearby to visit.
I grew up traveling. My mom loves nature and traveling/getting lost/asking random people for directions...ah, she's a nut. We had an RV when I was growing up, so I've been around.
Here are all the states I have visited, in red, and those left unvisited in white:

states map Although I like living in fairly big cities, I still have a deep appreciation for nature. Camping in a tent makes for an ultimate sleepover and waterfalls take my breath away. Steev thinks that's attributed to the fact that there's an intimate waterfall scene/song in almost every Bollywood movie.
options for mini-vacations in
Kentucky :
AND A DEFINITE MUST
Canoeing - you can also whitewater, kayak, and float, heeheehe!
Cumberland Falls - I've visited this place dozens of times, and it gets better every time I go back. Sadly, an optimum time to see the Moonbow won't be during spring break, but the place if fun nonetheless.
Mammoth Cave - never been, but have always wanted to go.
Land Between The Lakes - I've been here before, but only for one night in the summer, where my family and I stopped to partake in Fourth of July Festivities includes Golden Pond Planetarium!!!
Lost River Cave - Their slogan is "Sail into the new millennium on a Lost River Cave boat tour" awesome.
Kentucky Down Under - Australian themed animal park & beautiful, natural onyx cave. They have kangaroos that you can pet! Kentucky Down Under 2005 Season Opens on Saturday, March 12th, 2005!! first day of spring break
If anyone else is a huge hippie like me, or would just enjoy such adventures in warm weather, let me know.
We can take the family van, and if pick-up locations and driving routes work out, it will be a fun time no doubt. I think something like this would be refreshing, and a great escape after midterms and whatnot.
If there are any other suggestions for mini-vacations, holla!
Man, canoeing would be killer...
ah,
Now it's time for laundry.
