On Second Thought

Jan 24, 2009 12:37

It's been a month today since my dad died.

I wrote an entire post with the details of the event, but on second thought, I don't think I'm ready to actually share them. What I will reveal today is this: I told everyone that my dad had an unexpected heart attack, which is true. What I didn't spread around was the fact that I was the one who found him ( Read more... )

Amen.

And hugs.

And there isn't much else to say...except that you are one of the most beautiful people, inside and out, that I have ever been blessed to know, Beccakins, and you make people around you praise God because you are. And for what it's worth, that's an honor to your heavenly father and your earthly one.

It should also go without saying, but I'll say it anyways...you're dearly loved out here, and you can call (or take advantage of the carefree and unstructured (ha!) life of teh student to come visit) any time. Remember, we're three hours earlier in the time and have a bed in a room with a plaque that says "Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup."

I heart you.

I'm pretty much gonna have to second your entry yesterday. I don't deserve my friends. (:

I reeeeeeeeally want to come out your way again. Especially right now, I'm getting antsy for travel and I loved visiting you last year. I could do with a Seattle drop.

Oh, we would love to have you out here again! I'll even special order you some blue skies for your visit.

I wish had something insightful or comforting or...well, anything, really, to say. I wish I could do something to help. But all I can do is tell you once again that you and your family are in my prayers.

Wow, a month. I feel like I've been conspicuously absent from this event in your life, but there's no such thing as good timing, is there? People ask me frequently how you are doing (even friends down here that met you maybe once or twice...they have been thinking of you) and I tell them that you are doing pretty well, considering. As you say, it's a credit to God most of all, but you really do have a good perspective on it. Hopefully I'll be seeing you quite soon.

If I can get some of the incredible pile of schoolwork on my desk reigned in today and tomorrow, I'm going to definitely come down and see you (ALL!) with your mom this week. That is, if neither of us comes down with the flu. ;)

Also, you've been present in spirit if not in body. Just the fact that there's a wee bairn of yours carrying on a life really does help, believe it or not. Can't wait to meet him.
