And while I was out, some of the mischievous neighbor kids rang the doorbell, holding in their hands a tin of homemade cookies, a Christmas ornament they’d decorated with Dad’s name and a heart, and a Microsoft-made sympathy card saying not only sorry for our loss, but sorry for all the trouble the kids have caused over the years! Two of the boys told Mom they’ll help her with her yardwork for free.
What I’m saying is, we’re surrounded by wonderful people. Both distant-friends in Delaware, Philadelphia, Rochester, Lancaster, Baltimore, and Ohio-and local-from good cooks to neighbor kids-people have really stepped up and supported us through what will hopefully be the worst Christmas on record for my family. My dad has left a huge hole and a grieving family, but we’re surrounded by the people who will help us through it.
I couldn't be more grateful.
