An update? Wahhh?
Ok, so I know its been like a million years since I put in an actual post - tho I doubt anyone really cared LOL - so I thought Id tell you about the drama surrounding the stupid graduation edition we just got out (and should be arriving to my house in an hour or so - YAY).
First of all, the week of graduations, we do a grad issue for the local schools - King William, King and Queen (which I had to attend), West Point and New Kent (my county). So, I was told 3 weeks ago that I had to get New Kent's senior pictures, scholarship info and that I had to go to it that Sat. at VCU (no biggie).
So I called that day that Frannie told me. No one seemed to know who to ask for that (mind you, they do this EVERY year). So, I left messages. I called about 2/3 times that week.
Finally the next week when I called again someone said, "oh I bet you need Jane Gregory who does the yearbook." So I call her and leave her 2 messages that week.
I go to graduation and get pics and info.
Next week, I call again. Finally get my scholarships emailed to me. I call again, "Oh, Mrs. Gregory had a death in the family, she won't be back this week." WHAT?? This is Friday...deadline for the issue is Mon at 5..Still no pictures.
I call on Monday leave Gregory a message. Get a call back at 1pm. "I'll bring them to you." Great......I wait...she brings them...I put them in th computer and WTF - they are the MOSt pixelated, horrific pictures I have ever seen. AND half of them are hand copies that I have to hand scan. At 3pm....
I hand scan them all, put them on the page. Post in the horrific pictures, while warning Robin (editor). We get the pages done but are all very worried and upset about the condition of the pictures. Robin sends them to the Va Gazette, who prints our pages..we get a call, "Robin, these are too bad.. we cannot print these."
So, Robin tells me and we hold the graduation issue... so I call and leave a message with the School Superintendent - because that is Just Ridiculous. Then I call Jane Gregory and tell her the status and I call the photographer in case I dont get anything. After all this, mind you, I had a Planning Commission meeting until 9 p.m.
I get a call back from Jane Gregory who is heading to the High school to meet me with another disc - the disc from the photographer!! WTF? WHY did she not give that to me on MONDAY?! Anyway, I meet her, get the pics and she says, "I dont know WHY my superintendent's involved." and I say "that was what my editor told me to do. and we knew things would happen that way." trying to be diplomatic when my mind was going, "BITCH PLEASE!"
Then she gives me the disc and says, "oh crap, I forgot to add some. Ill bring them to you later" WTF? Does this NEVER end???
I get a call from th HS principal to see what happened, I tell her, and Jane Gregory says, "This is the first Ive heard of the pictures. People usually call me in May." WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHATT??!!! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME??!!! I was like Ooh heeeeeell noooo! I said, "I called 3 times a week starting 3 weeks ago and left messages on your direct line here at the school." and walked away.
Anyway, I grab a yearbook in case her pics are crap again and head off to work. While Im driving I get a call from the school superintendent saying he "stirred the pot" for me and they "dropped the ball." However, a part of me feels that he was scolding ME!! Why?? I have no idea?? BEcause I didnt walk over there and hold a gun to their heads to "give me the damn graduation pictures?!"
Anyway, I found some satisfaction in the fact that Jane Gregory was being scolded by the principal when I left.
So, I get to work and, like a madwoman, start imputting the pics like mad and about 1030 I get the other pics (she emailed them instead). We put them in and sent them away as fast as we could.
Then once that was done, we continued and finished the REST of the paper - Thank God for Frannie who worked like a dog paginating while we had our little graduation drama. We send the paper out at 1:30 - all 40 freakin' pages of it. But of course we had 4 calls saying we needed to change fonts on some of the pages due to a font problem. But that was it.
Just talking about all this crap makes me need a drink LOL
I am off to eat, get my county sticker - OOOH I got a new-to-me car!! It's a PRETTY 1998 Honda Accord named Silver Bullet - and she's so sleek ;) - - go to th dentist for my stupid Bruxism/TMJ, go to the library for a book on tape and dvd and go to church and choir.
Even my days off are crazy-busy.

Oh yea, for all you classic rock lovers - HAPPY 40th ANNIVERSARY TO THE MONTEREY POP FESTIVAL (well yesterday was the last day). Such a KICK-ASS concert. IF you havent heard it or are looking at me like Im special, RENT IT, SEE IT, BUY IT! - - Janis and Jimi's debut ;)
