It's been a while....
I thought I'd update, since it's been a month and since the season has changed.
There is Light in Finland. Spring burst its shell and flung brightness everywhere. It is warm. There is Light when you wake up. The sunshine makes me skip and smile with joy and breathe deeply and absorb as much of it as I can. We all feel it. Human and animalkind are emerging from their hibernation lairs, and are scurrying like ants on the streets of Helsinki and the forest trails as if finally free from the clutches of winter.
Our bunny died today. He lived a second youth since the arrival of our kitten, so he was a very happy bunny and he died peacefully this beautiful spring day. This morning before I left for work he rubbed up against my legs and licked my toes. When I picked him up to put him in his cage he made a noise as if it hurt him. But I stroked his head and put him in his cage and left for work. Laura called me a few hours later in hysterical tears to tell me he was no longer alive, but I haven't spoken to her yet, since her student arrived at the same time as I did. I just long to hold her. Rest in Peace Bunny. We will miss you.
I'm teaching more, but not enough yet. Still applying for more work. KELA rejected my housing aid application to supposed missing materials, though I delivered everything they asked of me in time. Those fuckers.
As the emptiness settles, I will make some dinner.
