Emerging from a box
And the first words that pass your lips
Are ignorance and bigotness
O why turn your back on ego
You were doing too well
To resort to these petty quips

Well I’ve never been the patriotic type
Yet your assault has set my back against the wall
Become more than the sum of your parts
Before you speak to me about standing tall

The hopes we share
We dream to dare
Mean nothing if you choose to be dumb
We could wave that flag together
Dancing through infinity
To the beat of our own drum

And I’ll speak your lengua.

Breaking out of chains
And the first actions you take
Are derision and contempt
You turn your back on self
As if anything not born of bulls
Is worth only derision and hate

Well if you choose this over me
I’ll not roll to your punches
Or learn to move as you do
I’ll retain who I am
Speak like you
Yet evolve into something new

The hopes we share
We dream to dare
Mean nothing if you choose to be dumb
We could wave that flag together
Dancing through infinity
To the beat of our own drum

And I’ll speak your lengua.
