Collection of bits
Thanksgiving break was/has been a lot of fun. Spent time with family, walked to feed the hungry, picked out a Christmas tree for my family's front porch and a simply ridiculous tree for Dani's family's living room, ate way too much good food (one and a half thanksgiving dinners plus chicken piccata, steak fajita sandwiches and meatball subs), and of course spent lots of quality time with Dani. Only down sides were that I didn't get much thanksgiving leftovers (partly on account of Brenton having a get-together during lunchtime and not serving food...), and it went back way too fast.
Now I'm putting off getting some reading done this afternoon. I fly back to Oregon tonight at 9:30 in the evening, and get back to Salem around midnight, then sleep, then hit the ground running for the insanity that will be the last three weeks of school. Just have to do a prospectus for my thesis (with 6 solid pages of economic theory), 2700 word essay setting out my idea for an environmental ethic, a big meaty econometric case study, an inevitable pile of statistics homework, grad school essays, and two big finals. The usual, in other words. Egads.
Went to folk dance on friday, which was a blast. I don't get to really dance like that often enough at school. Swing club is the closest thing to it, and that's not nearly as fun without a partner. But I was way more whipped afterwards than I should have been. Sure, there were a lot of fast and crazy dances in a row, including a crazy-fast swing (and I'm the only one crazy enough to do lindy hop to Zoot Suit Riot...), but still. So that settles my indecision on my half or quarter credit class for next semester. Convocation is out, fencing is in. I need to be getting more exercise, and since I flat out refuse to do exercise for its own sake, and the dance options are so palid, fencing it is.
