I planted this during Golden Week. The little tiny pots each hold one onion, except the teapot, which holds lavender. There is lettuce and unknown plant that I mistook for yams in the big round pot. The big square pot holds tomatoes, strawberry, marigolds, green pepper, and possibly onion -- I don't remember.
I planted this during Golden Week too. It has watermelon, lettuce, onion, green onion, applemint, and possibly other things that I have forgotten.
This mint survived the winter! It wasn't a container last year, but the container broke. I'm going to see if it can survive in the ground.
These are the scraps of last year's onions. I pulled them apart, rinsed and replanted them.
I also rinsed and replanted the strawberries. I probably shouldn't have done that since they don't look very happy about it. I was just too impatient to weed around them. So instead I pulled them out and rinsed and replanted them.
This is what I worked on today. I know the photo looks grubby, but it represents a lot of work. The garden part of my yard looked totally overgrown. I probably would have just let it go, but I noticed there were many strawberry leaves. I thought I should at least clear it out and leave it to be a strawberry patch. As I started clearing out the weeds I noticed that there were more plants than I expected. There were a lot of carrots and onions that I hadn't bothered to harvest last year. I also noticed that a few of my asparagus survived! I thought it all died. Also, the asparagus that lived looks like it's in much better condition than it was last year. Granted, now there is much less of it. I gathered up the carrots and the onions. I read online that you can replant onions from scraps of onions, so I'm trying that. I don't know how it will end up. I wasn't even planning on having a very big garden this year but it's already shaping up to be pretty big.
