We'll Never Know
She was walking away. She was walking away and he couldn’t stop her.
He wanted to run up and grab hold of her. Kiss her into oblivion and promise her anything she wanted to make her stay. But that wouldn’t do any good. Instead he simply spoke up. The only thing he could do.
“Why? Why do you have to go?”
“Cause we wouldn’t work. You know that.”
This time he did step forward. He took her face in his hands and stared deep into her eyes. “No. I don’t know that. We might work. We might be absolutely brilliant. Together we might write a love story to make all others pale in comparison. But we’ll never know. We’ll never know till we try.”
