Apologies ...
I know I've been away from LJ for a long time. This is an apology for that, and also for being so very horribly late on my review of the season seven opener of Supernatural, Meet The New Boss. I won't have the review up until at least the beginning of next week, and then I'll have to catch up with episode two, Hello, Cruel World. Yipes.
There are a couple of reasons. Work has been insane: I've been assigned three major hot projects, all of which have gone bonkers at the same time. I'm carrying the load because we're short-handed. I could live with two, but having three is killing me. Welcome to the federal government. I've been late getting home from work every single day this week.
The other reason is decidedly more positive: I'm prepping to launch my own part-time business, hopefully in November, as a voiceover artist, a career I intend to pursue full-time when I retire from the Fed, hopefully at the end of next year. At almost 55, I finally figured out what I want to be when I grow up! I assembled my home recording studio over the summer, and I'm actually recording my first project -- a job for EPA, which I'm doing as part of my normal duties, but which I'll be able to claim as a credit on my professional VO resume. I actually watched the first episode of this season in a hotel in New Jersey, because I spent the entire last weekend in an intensive seminar run by the Great Voice Company at Avatar Studios in New York City -- the place where Tony Bennett recorded his duets with Lady Gaga, Sheryl Crow, and Aretha Franklin, and where many other artists, including Sting, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, and Counting Crows, have recorded. This is going to be one hell of a challenge, but it's all mine. My very own BardicVoice Studio is currently planned to open for business in late November. I'll post a link when the VO website opens.
So that's why I'm so horribly late in writing a review of Supernatural 7.01, Meet The New Boss. I do promise to post it, hopefully sooner rather than later, and I'll let folk here on LJ know whether or not I wind up succeeding as I embark on my new career in voiceover. Along the way, I intend to record my fanfic, and may even try to podcast my reviews. Stay tuned to this channel, and I guarantee you'll hear my voice if you want to!
