Lovely, again! Thanks so much for your words and sharing your pictures. :-)

My colleague and I were discussing the Colt and also the time frame cited by the angels as proof that God has ceased to be -- the 20th century. We wondered why the 20th (and the early 21st) is lamented? Over the centuries, there was Ghengis Khan, the Medici, Caligula, the Mayans, among others. Man's inhumanity to Man is not exclusive to the last hundred or so years. So why do the atrocities of prior centuries not factor into the angels' decision to bring on the apocalypse? What happened in the 19th century?

It brought us to the Colt. In the mid-19th century Samuel Colt built the Colt, along with the world's largest devil's trap, containing the doorway to Hell for which the Colt is the only key. How did Samuel Colt know to do that? Where did he get his inspiration? Is the Colt the last remnant of divine intervention?

In discussing the Colt, I believe the demons didn't destroy it because it CAN kill an angel, capable of killing Michael as well as Lucifer. Then again, one must wonder how Ruby knew how to repair it.

I'd love to know your thoughts on it, too. :-)

You nailed exactly how I perceived this look into the future. Zachariah's utter inability to think like a human allowed him to miss completely the lesson Dean ultimately drew from it: Dean needs Sam and Sam needs Dean and the world needs them together.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed both the words and the pics ...

I wondered about Raphael citing the 20th century as proof of the death of God, given how bloody all of human history has been. One thought I had that Raphael didn't mention was that the 20th century saw the advent of man's ability to destroy all life on Earth ...

I like the thought that the demons might have preserved the Colt as a weapon against angels once they knew it would work. If that's the case, though, they must have found out recently, because Alastair pointed out in On The Head Of A Pin that he didn't know how to kill an angel, and that if Lilith knew, she'd have been killing them wholesale. We know Lilith had the Colt because she got it from Bela, but she wasn't using it against angels.

Something tells me we're going to be learning more about the Colt as the season goes on. From Sam bringing it up as an idea in Sympathy For The Devil to Castiel, during his so far fruitless search for God, reporting rumors of it and saying it would be Dean's best chance in a mad attempt to kill Lucifer, we're being led down a path. I'm curious to see where it goes!
