A lay given to Eorðe at Hláfmæsse

Oh, Folde!  Food-filled | bright fruits you sell
For nobles and needy | all need you fulfill
Mother of mankind | Mother of Þunor
Might and main | are your gifts to mete
Through summer's end, Oh, Eorðe! | our effort sustain
As ever we endeavor | your gifts to earn
May your consequence continue | and acclaim accrue
Be growing, Oh, Governess! | in the Gods' ( Read more... )

Thanks, Freowyn!

Yeah, when I came across that pic I thought, "I MUST snag this to put with my Eorðe poem!" ...it was just too perfect not to do!

Hey, Freowyn!

Marion has suggested that you might be interested in this poem for the upcoming issue of Fire and Ice. If you'd like to use it, you're more than welcome to it. You can just credit Bardawulf, and that would be fine. The only thing I would ask is that we truncate the title of the poem to simply, "A Lay Given to Eorðe," as Hláfmæsse is behind us. And please don't feel obligated to use it; I offer it only as M. has suggested you might like to do.

Nice :-) I'm surprised Freowyn didn't ask about putting this in Fire and Ice

Thank you, M! I will have to make an effort to work on something for Fire and Ice. I'm sorry I have to ask, but how often does it come out, and what are approx. deadlines (30 days in advance... 60... etc.)?

I think Freowyn would be quite happy to have that prayer-poem :-)

I believe you're still on HT list? She's the editor and if I remember rightly she set a deadline of Sept. 10th for the next issue . . . anyway it will be in the list archives.

It started out bi-monthly but is now quarterly like other heathen mags. It's up to the editor what deadline to declare for each issue (and whether to bend it), but usually it's been the 15th of the month . . . then we try to get it out by the end of that month. So she's been trying to make it teh 10th instead to give more time for editing and copying.

Frith,
M

Thanks for gettin' back to me, M. I'll take a look at the HT site, or more likely will get off an e-mail to Freowyn. If she wants to use this poem, she's more than welcome to it. I'd probably ask her, though, to truncate the title to simply, "A Lay Given to Eorðe," as Hláfmæsse is behind us.

Thanks for your interest in my humble poetry!
