It's that time of the year again

National Novel Writing Month has just started and I'm taking a break. I'm at 953 words so far, which is not a bad start since the day is just 2 hours and 45 minutes old. (I didn't start right at Midnight.)

Unlike previous years, where I'd start writing and realize I was doing something I'd thought of many years ago, this year I started totally cold. I had no ideas, no preconceptions, and no plan whatsoever.

As of now, I have three named characters, two men and one woman. Two of them have just broken up and the third is interested in one of them. That's really all I can say; anything more would dilute the creative frenzy.

What's interesting is that this seems so far to be set entirely in the present day. There is no hint of science fiction, fantasy, or even mystery. It's just people, being people.

I'm not saying it's going to be the Great American Novel (in fact, I can pretty well guarantee it won't be), but it's something I'm going to have fun with.

I might post casting information later; one of the characters could easily be played by Thomas Gibson (he's on some show that I don't watch, but I remember him from Dharma and Greg). The other two I can't see just yet, but they'll come to me.

Anyway, that's it for now.
