JY and Stef and I went to New York last weekend. This was exciting, because I've never been there. We spent most of our time walking around Manhattan, which was kind of exactly like Toronto, except enormous, contained (on an island, as opposed to Toronto's infinite sprawl) and friendlier. Strangers talk to you, even on the subway, which never happens here. I forgot to bring my camera out one day, so I missed taking pictures of the Christo gates in Central Park and some other cool stuff, but nevertheless:

This was a sign outside of a hotdog restaurant called... Mango Papaya, or something? Weird.
Stef at the Army recruiting station in Times Square. It was covered in flourescent lights, so it blended in well. Notice the white board with "Acheived", "Projections", etc.
JY taking in Times Square. It was a god-awful monument to consumer capitalism: enormous, tacky, seductive, spectacular, terrifying and hypnotic.
Me and JY at the Manhattan end of the Brooklyn Bridge.
In the Financial District of New York City, perhaps the focal point of global capitalism. Liberty and Trinity: One Way.
JY at the Museum of Modern Art.

JY and Lauren at Ground Zero.
Me at Ground Zero. I did not intend to have quite this expression on my face.
Stef and JY ("Hurricane Canada") prepare to victimise Lauren and Maggie at Maggie's (and Dot's!) apartment in Manhattan.
JY in Yonkers, where Lauren lives. It had been a long day and we were tired. What can I say?
Our lovely host Lauren and her wonderful friend Maggie in Yonkers. They knew how to have a good time.
