So I called my grandparents yesterday. Telephone conversations with my grandparents are always structured as follows:
1. Initial greeting with the grandparental unit who happens to answer the phone.
2. A pause while the other grandparent goes to pick up the other phone, 20-30 seconds.
3. Discussion about the weather, 10-15 minutes.
4. Discussion about how busy I am with school, 30-45 seconds.
5. Discussion about my aunt, uncle and cousins in Brisbane, with particular emphasis on the extracurricular activities of my cousins, 4-5 minutes.
6. Awkward silence, 6 seconds.
7. Discussion about my mom, 30-45 seconds
8. Awkward silence, 8 seconds.
9. Closing remarks.
