I'm still writing! On Monday, I stared at the blank computer screen for quite a while. I did a little research, but only did a little real writing.
Tuesday was fair day - Anne danced.
Yesterday and today, I didn't panic at the writing. I wrote a passionate piece about the parental rights (NONE) of sperm donors, because I was just damned tired of hearing speculation over the father of Michael Jackson's babies. I also finally started writing the story of my quest to have a baby. The two really are related.
Today, I started a little comedy piece about fantasies mom's are not supposed to have.
I also started a short story. I haven't really written a short story before (well, since I was a kid myself), so it's really just a way to get my feet wet. It's based at my school on the first day, with my protagonist being a seventh-grade honors student. So far, it;s really just a setting up - a little character development and such. The plot will hopefully take them through the first day and their interactions with one another and the teachers. I hope to actually imbed my class rules and grading policy into the story, as a kind of fun way to have them learn about the class.
Now I am taking a short break - to let my brain relax before I decide whether to continue any of these ideas or try to tackle a poem, another genre I've ignored most of my life.
Meantime, tomorrow is off - Anne and Trip are off, too, so I have no idea what we will end up doing. I'm hoping for a visit to the bay on the 4th to see fireworks, but nothing else is set. We are kind of enjoying time that is not scheduled lately.
More later,
