San Marcos Writing Project - Day 1

Jun 29, 2009 08:39

Here I am, 8:39 a.m. on a Monday of my summer vacation.  To top that, I also rode my bike here!  My hair is still wet with the sweat of helmet head - lovely.  The morning itseft has gone fairly smoothly, and I'm sure the day will as well, unless my bike gets stolen, in which case I cry. A lot.

The daily question (the one that does not refer to the reading I completely forgot to do) is about my goals for the Institute.  I have five weeks, or twenty days, to accomplish something other than earning a few credits and a little money, all of which will be used to pay for the credits, the meals, and/or childcare.  In fact, I am behind on that already.  Oh well.

For my serious side, if I have one, as always, I am looking to become the best teacher I can be. That means, passionately following the program, reading all I can (unless I forget), and preparing myself for the best lessons in writing and reading that I can give.  I also, just for fun, get to write, too, for myself - something I haven't done for many years.  It's all good.

And, with the bike riding, the regular schedule and hopefully healthy snacks brought in by my colleagues, I intend to accomplish some weight loss/muscle building in the next five weeks.  I think 8-10 pounds is reasonable.  Of course, now that I think about it, I forgot to weigh myself this morning, but I'll start with the scary figure from last week.  Wii keeps track for me anyway.
