hello hello

Because I was sick all last week and doing way too much at work and hosting a busy Wednesday night show, I took Friday off work. I just did some email work from home in the afternoon and took the time to recover. Then Friday night was a nice chill night at my house with some close friends. We had a good time. :-)

Saturday I slept in late, finally feeling better and not sick. Had dinner with Nichole and Tony at Red Robin (yummy!) and then went to the My Monster Benefit Show at Johnny V's. Finally got to see the Shoguns play and I loved them. We talked about booking them on one of my shows early 2008. Turns out they've heard a lot about me and have wanted to play my shows. :-)

I also joked around with Johnny about us getting a venue together, so he told me to stick with bookings; owning a venue is too much work. Then he told me that he's going to be booking shows at the Smoke Tiki Lounge next year and wants me to help him out!! Smoke has 490 capacity and they have that cool outside area where the bands play. I'm really excited about that opportunity.

Which reminds me, Andrew from PinUp asked me to help him with some Nova Hall shows next year, as well as a new venue he's working on. So there's going to be some more Barb Rocks Shows happening next year than usual!

Sunday was mellow. I just stayed home, caught up on my tivo shows, then had dinner with Nichole at Krung Thai and saw Beowulf with her and Tony. Not sure how I feel about the movie. I think there was too much CGI and it looked too fake most of the time. I didn't like how the faces weren't real and some of the line deliveries were just too fake and funny. But the action scenes were cool, especially when Beowulf attacked the dragon.

The best part was that there was a preview for Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd, which is coming out in December, starring Johnny Depp. And yes, there's the musical aspect to it!!! I CAN"T WAIT!! There was also a cool preview for a movie called Cloverfield coming out in January about a monster attack in New York.

What else can I tell you? I've been having fun working with Blessings of Affliction and they just recorded a new demo on Saturday. They even let me name one of their new songs. It's called "Vengeance" and it's fantastic! So stay tuned next week to hear the new material!

I'm also working with JC Haydon (from The Moderna Complex) to complete my Pre-New Year's Eve show line-up on Sat 12/29. That's going to be a HUGE show. Oh yeah, I officially have Thursday night shows at the VooDoo next year, which is much cooler than Wed night. Things are really coming together....

Barb Rocks Out.
