I’m sure someone out there has already done this one, but I was bored! And fans ask the best questions, so here it is!

Maniacal Q & A: 5 x 10

On their 10th anniversary, the fans ask Arashi the 50 questions they’ve been wanting the answer to!

Questions for Nino:

Q1: What happened to the birthday date with Jun-kun?
A: We wanted to go out for a meal, but he had a prior appointment. Well, we ended up celebrating on the day itself at the Kokuritsu concert, so I thought that was good. After that, we lost track of the timing where we could go. (laughs)

Q2: Will Ohmiya SK make a comeback?
A: I don’t know about that. It’s not as if we deliberately discontinued the thing. (laughs) Maybe we’ll be back someday?!

Q3: What’s it like to touch Ohno’s butt?
A: Well~ After doing it for 10 years, I don’t feel a single thing. (laughs)

Q4: Who gave you the best reaction when you performed magic in front of them?
A: Everyone pretty much goes, “Ohh, awesome…” If you were to talk about magic, I was really happy to have met the magician Maeda Tomohiro through the Gekkan Arashi.

Q5: What’s the wallpaper on your cell phone now?
A: I’ve always had a picture of Jun-kun when he was a kid on it. He looked great.

Q6: Did your family say anything to you regarding your 10th anniversary?
A: Although they came to watch the concert, they didn’t say anything though.

Q7: What was the most impactful birthday present you have ever received from a member?
A: The one that comes to mind immediately was the trump cards which I received from Leader. I basically buy the [trump cards] which I used, so I did not use those [that Leader gave] and kept it preciously.

Q8: What do you call your family since you were young, and now?
A: In the past, I used to say, “Mother,” but now, it’s just “Hey…”*Something like that.

Translator’s note: The phrase “Hey…” denotes a gentle nudge.

Q9: What kind of fetishes do you have when it comes to girls?
A: My eyes just go straight to the hands. I don’t really have a preference, but I do notice what kind of hands they have.

Q10: As you look at the audience during the concert, what kind of outfit strikes you the most?
A: A yukata* is good. I would think, “Ah~ It’s summer.”

Translator’s note: A yukata is a casual summer kimono.

  Questions for Sho

Q1: Who’s the person you respect and the person you would most like to interview right now?
A: I respect all athletes. If I were to interview someone, I would love to hear from the first Japanese IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) Director General Amano Yukiya on our stance as a country which has been a victim of nuclear bombing.

Q2: It seems that you have a brother who is 10 years younger than you are. What kind of relationship do the two of you have?
A: When he was young I used to change his diapers. It’s a mysterious feeling of someone who’s like your child and yet like your brother at the same time.

Q3: The globetrotter Sho-kun. Where would you like to go next?
A: I would like to go to Vietnam, which is one place in Asia that I haven’t been to yet. As for Brazil and the World Cup, I would like to be there before the 2016 Olympics or the World Cup.

Q4: Please tell us how you made effective use of your time as a student!
A: I didn’t study in between breaks at work. I made a precise split between the time I would spend at work and at school.

Q5: What’s the most important thing to you when it comes to writing rap lyrics?
A: I wanted to make Arashi’s music, and not hip-hop, so the lyrics were clear. It’s not something that you can discover within a day, and it’s got be to able to reach the hearts of the masses.

Q6: I’ve been waiting for your solo concert DVD all this while. Any plans to put it on sale?
A: I’ve been waiting for it all this while too. (laughs) I would like to do another solo concert someday too.

Q7: Why have you been cutting your hair so often lately?
A: No reason in particular, so I would say, “heartbreak”. (laughs)

Q8: I have the same phobia of heights as you, Sho-kun. What is it about high places that freaks you out?
A: For me, I always think of the worst case scenario. (laughs) I don’t trust the props that are supporting my body, and the worst case scenario always comes to mind.

Q9: What’s the most intense birthday present you’ve ever received from the members?
A: On my 20th [birthday], Ohno-san drew a picture of a macho African.

Q10: What’s your favorite Disney character?
A: The bears at the Country Bear Jamboree. Initially, it was a total shock to see stuffed bears talking. But it’s pretty heartwarming.
